Short track athlete Bērziņš concludes the second stage of the World Cup season with 7th place in the 500 meters distance / Article

Both Bērziņš in the 500 meters and Roberts Krūzbergs in the 1000 meters started the last day of the competition in Salt Lake City with satisfaction. Kruzberg reached the quarter-finals, where he did not overtake any competitor in his skating and ranked 18th in the distance overall.

Bērziņš, on the other hand, overcame the quarter-finals, but in the fight for a place in the main final, he finished third in his semi-final skating and reached the B final. Starting in the B final, Bērziņš was the second fastest, but Jens van Tvout from the Netherlands won the distance overall.

It has already been announced that Bērziņš won 3rd place in 1500 meters on Saturday and for the first time in his career entered the top three in such a high-level competition.

In the overall ranking of the season after two stages, Bērziņš is fifth in the 1500 meters distance, while Kruzbergs occupies the same high position in the 1000 meters.

The World Cup season will continue in December with two stages in Kazakhstan, and in February there will be two more stages in Germany and the Netherlands.
