Red Bulls conquista la II Euro Baseball Winter League

The Euro Baseball Winter League concluded with the final in which the Red Bulls and Golden Stars faced each other at the Néstor Pérez Suárez Baseball field, thus putting the finishing touch to an intense week of competition.

This international event has had the presence throughout this week of scouts from teams such as the New York Yankees or the Los Angeles Dodgers, the president of the WBSC of Europe, Kruno Karin; the insular director of the Cabildo de Tenerife, Ángel Pérez and the president of the Canarian Baseball and Softball Federation, Jacobo Garrido.

Two teams with different trajectories in this Euro Baseball Winter League reached the final. The red team had an excellent progression in a tournament where they started stumbling, but knew how to recover. For its part, Peter Caliendo’s team, Golden Star, had a brilliant start, however it went from more to less.

In the final, the players from the gold stars gave the first knockout with two runs (2-0). However, the Red Bulls displayed a winning mentality and the ability to face adversity. In this way they were little by little getting closer on the scoreboard. First with an entry in the second inning and turning the score around in the third inning (2-3).

The blow would come in the fourth inning, where they were more successful in hitting and alert to defensive errors. Outstanding was the performance of Carlos Gordon, who would receive the MVP of the final for his good performance. The Golden Stars’ pitching change was not the most successful and would take its toll. In this way the Red Bulls opened the gap on the scoreboard (2-8).

Faced with this income, Peter Caliendo moved the bullpen again. On this occasion, he knew how to stop the onslaught of the red bulls, although he had little margin to achieve an epic comeback.

Artiz García’s players knew how to maintain the necessary competitive tension in these games, so as not to lose a Euro Baseball Winter League that seemed far away at the beginning and which they conquered with a 9-3 victory.
