Austin Nola was selected by the Miami Marlins in 2012 after playing baseball for Louisiana State University. “It’s an honor to be drafted and it’s always been a goal of mine to play pro ball, but right now my focus is on helping LSU get into the College World Series,” Nola said, according to WAFB9 . “It’s been an incredible experience to have been a part of this program for the past four seasons. There’s nothing like LSU baseball – this is where my heart beats.”
Then, in 2018, Nola signed with the Seattle Mariners, and in August 2020, according to MLB, he signed as a catcher with the San Diego Padres in a seven-player deal with the Mariners. While that’s impressive in and of itself, Nola’s brother, Aaron Nola, plays as a pitcher for the Philadelphia Phillies, and the two have feuded in a few games. Clearly, baseball runs in the family!
