Ostrava police officers became world champions in pole dancing

When they started together in 2016 with a scaffold pipe in the garden, they probably had no idea that their dream would one day become a reality. In the last week of October, Ostrava police officers Nikol Vítečková and Alena Schaffartziková won the title of world champions in pole dance in Lausanne, Switzerland.

In the case of Ostrava police officers Ali and Nika, it is a story of talent, hard work and trust based on great friendship. Both have been best friends since they were four years old. At that time, they were already doing gymnastics together.

Both girls started toying with the idea of trying pole dancing in 2016. They practiced their first exercises in the garden with a scaffolding pipe. In addition to falls and bruises, these first attempts also resulted in a number of burns on the whole body due to the low-quality pole. Nevertheless, they did not give up and, with patient work, progressed step by step towards their dream goals.

The competition itself was organized by the International Federation of Aerial and Pole Sports, whose goal is to include pole dance in the program of the Olympic Games.

The preparation for this competition was very demanding, both physically and in terms of time. Both devoted practically all of their free time to her.

Nikol Vítečková said about the course of the preparation: “This competition was the most difficult for us in our career so far, for which we trained from the time of covid until this October. It took more than two years of preparation. In comparison, our usual preparation for a competition is 7 months”.

However, the obtained championship title was not their first placement among the world’s elite. In 2018, they won bronze in Florida, and in Russia in 2019, they won the title of world champions. However, these starts took place under a different World Pole Dance Federation.

Alena and Nikol won’t hang up their careers in pole dancing even after winning the championship. Alena Schaffartziková stated: “We are definitely not done, we want to continue in pole dancing, develop other girls, help them with their preparation and also train ourselves. Inspiration for many girls around the world in the form of videos from our training and competitions, we publish on our Instagram ali_a_niky_poledance_doubles”.
