It is an understatement to say that the pride is great for the judo section of Odos as for its president and teacher Moïse Duchemin. Because of the road, precisely, it has been traveled for about 18 years, time corresponding to the arrival of Moses on the Odossian tatamis and the first judoka steps of Max Laborde. Eighteen years to train a bronze medalist at the last French championships, in Toulon, in the 90 kg category. With this first charm among the big boys, Max is now at the gates of a selection for the France team, an event not so common in the Hautes-Pyrénées to be reported. Far away are now the memories of a young licensee “who already had some predispositions” remembers Moïse Duchemin. But between the dojo of Odos, the hope center of Toulouse then Bordeaux, and INSEP today, the course of the now member if Dojo Béglais has not always been straight. Despite everything, whatever the adversity, Moïse Duchemin always found himself at the side of the judoka under construction. One of the keys to success. “Max is a hard worker, adds the Odossian teacher again, he never stops, he never lets go.” And to remember the thousands of kilometers traveled across France, sometimes not to pass the first round. But an essential step to store up this experience which today allows Max Laborde to reach the heights of France. If Moïse Duchemin claims to have “always believed in him”, thus becoming a mental mentor, the now bronze medalist was also able to count on intrinsic qualities which make him difficult to fight. “He’s a difficult judoka to knock down, analyzes Moïse, and since he has a great physical condition, he ends up suffocating his opponents.” Assets which should, hopefully, lead him to even higher goals, in this famous category of 90 kg already well encumbered at the national level.
