Wide receiver and free agent Odell Beckham Jr. was reportedly removed from an American Airlines flight Sunday in Miami, when the flight was to go to Los Angeles. Officers were reportedly called to respond to “a medical emergency,” the Miami-Dade Police Department said. The story was reported by the website of the NFL.
A statement shared by police explains that the flight crew showed concern about a passenger identified as “Beckham”. The team reportedly tried to wake him up to fasten his seat belt and Beckham appeared to momentarily lose consciousness before the start.
“Fearing that Mr Beckham was seriously ill, and that his health would deteriorate during the flight which was expected to last five hours, the attendants called the police and the fire team. When the officers arrived, the crew asked Mr. Beckham several times to leave the plane, which he refused. The plane was then evacuated when officers asked Mr. Beckham to leave the plane, which he did without incident,” police said in a statement.
Beckham appeared to reference the events on Twitter later.
“I’ve never experienced anything like what I just experienced… I’ve seen it all…”
Sunday morning, insider Ian Rapoport claimed that Beckham Jr. would begin his free agent visits later this week. He is expected to visit the facilities of the Giants, the team that drafted him, Thursday and Friday.
He would then visit the Cowboys on December 5, and then meet the Bills.
Beckham is currently recovering from a torn anterior cruciate ligament sustained in Super Bowl LVI.
