The season is not quite over for Rafael Nadal yet. One thing is certain, despite the difficulties and the constant pace, there will be at least a 22nd next year. The Spaniard, serene, does not want to stop yet.

Rafael Nadal had mentioned it last week and his elimination from the Masters: Latin America was waiting for him for a final exhibition before the holidays. Casper Ruud, against whom he had saved the honor in Turin and who then played – and lost – the final against Novak Djokovic, joined him and the two men were side by side at a press conference in Buenos Aires. The Spaniard assures that his end “is not at all for the near future”. The Grand Slam title record holder (22) says he is “a fairly realistic person” and is not the least bit worried about his future second life: “The time will come when he has to come, I’m ready for that. Beyond adapting to the changes and assimilating, I don’t think that will be a problem.”

Especially since his recent fatherhood, Rafael Nadal has already had the opportunity to explain it several times and he repeats it again: “Many important things in my life make me happy, beyond tennis. It’s an important part for me, but there are others who are perhaps even more so.” Also asked about the evolution of the game, the world No. 2 would like to “see more varied styles”: “Everyone plays very similarly, especially in speed. There is very little room for a different tactic, everything is going too fast. Only on clay is it possible.” This therefore explains this for the king of ocher, winner fourteen times at Roland-Garros (a monumental record, of course, for a single Grand Slam tournament).
