MLB: Jose Abreu joins the Houston Astros

The Houston Astros have come to an agreement with Jose Abreu, according to Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic.

Abreu, 35, spent his nine seasons in major league baseball with the Chicago White Sox. In 2020, the first baseman was voted the National League Most Valuable Player.

In 157 games last season, Abreu had a .304 batting average and hit 15 home runs and 75 RBIs.

The Cienfuegos, Cuba native has just completed his three-year, $50 million contract with the White Sox.

Verlander in talks with the Dodgers?

According to MLB Network’s Jon Hayman, American League Cy Young Trophy winner Justin Verlander met with Dodgers management on Monday.

Hayman added that the Yankees, Mets and Astros would also be in the hunt for the right-handed ace.

Verlander went 18-4 last season and posted a 1.75 ERA.
