Miedema is disgraceful about the full football calendar: ‘We are going completely crazy’ | Football

Vivianne Miedema has Thursday in her column for the AD Shame on the full international football calendar. The all-time top scorer of Orange does not think the many injuries in women’s and men’s football are a coincidence.

“Actually, it’s just a shame. We are in a world that just rumbles on and there are few players who say anything about it. I do. We go completely crazy with the tax on football players and football players,” Miedema writes, among other things.

The Arsenal striker, who speaks of “a worrying pattern”, recently skipped a match of her club and two matches of the Orange Women. That had to do with the full schedule.

“I felt that my body and mind were ready for a rest. For people who do not work in top sport, that will sound strange. People who do work in our world will understand it better,” she continues in her column.

“But many players don’t feel that freedom to stand up for themselves or just want to continue in their tunnel. The schedule in which we train, play and have obligations from the club is killer.”

Miedema has been playing for Arsenal since 2017 and until recently was usually a basic player. She has been sitting on the couch regularly in the last few weeks. On Thursday evening (kick-off: 9 p.m.), she and her club will face Juventus in the group stage of the Champions League.
