Man-Kei To takes silver in women’s doubles at the Para Badminton World Cup

With her Turkish partner Emine Seckin, she lost in the final in two sets to the Japanese Sarina Satomi and Yuma Yamazaki, the world’s number one and the reigning Paralympic champions: 21-11 and 21-15.

It was Man-Kei To’s first ever final at a world championship. “I think we played well against the reigning World and Paralympic champions,” she says. “Emine and I haven’t played together for a while, while they really have been playing and training together as a permanent duo for a long time.”

In the singles, Man-Kei To was eliminated in the quarterfinals by the Swiss Cynthia Mathez. “I am still a bit disappointed with the result in singles, but on the other hand I have shown what I have to offer. My performances will not only stick with me, but also with the others.”

In February, the qualifying tournaments for the Paralympic Games in Paris 2024 will start with a tournament in Spain. “Those competitions are now my main goals, together with the European Para Games in Rotterdam in 2023, the World Cup in 2024 and the Paralympic Games in Paris.”
