Liverpool FC: Jürgen Klopp loses a player for free in the summer – FOOTBALL

He was a Champions League winner, club world champion, English champion and four-time cup winner on the island, but all these successes are in the past and apparently will not bring Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain (29) a new contract with Liverpool.

At least that’s what transfer expert Fabrizio Romano reports, who writes on Twitter that no talks are planned between the club and the player regarding his contract, which expires in 2023.

That doesn’t really come as a surprise, however. ‘The Ox’, as the 35-time England international is known, has long played a supporting role at best for the Reds. In the summer of 2017 he came to Anfield from league rivals Arsenal. Liverpool FC paid 38 million euros for the offensive player’s services at the time.

But Oxlade-Chamberlain was certainly not lucky. In his first season he tore his cruciate ligament and was out for almost a year. Later, a recent knee and thigh injury put him out of action for months. And then there was the huge competition in Liverpool midfield…

In the coming year we will part ways. When the question arose in the past transfer window as to whether Liverpool would still sell the beefy attacker in order to use the last chance for a transfer, Jürgen Klopp (55) put in a clear veto. Since then, only three short appearances (no goal involvement) have been added in the Premier League. He played 90 minutes against Derby County in the League Cup.

Before moving to Liverpool FC, he played for Arsenal FC for six years after the Gunners had ripped him off from his youth club Southampton FC. Meanwhile, it is not yet known whether Oxlade-Chamberlain will remain in the Premier League or make the first international move of his career.
