“We have confirmed the work of the past week of training,” said Rose after the game, “I think we played well, got a few young guys to play, we integrated Konny again for 45 minutes and didn’t leave a tough game out of the game let it be. So I’m satisfied.”

In front of 423 spectators in the stadium of the RB training center on Cottaweg, Konrad Laimer, currently third in the table, celebrated his comeback after an eleven-week break due to a syndemosis rupture. The midfielder crowned his comeback against tenth-placed Ekstraklasa in Poland with a goal to make it 1-0, which he scored after 32 minutes with a shot from 22 meters. “That was good and important for Konny,” said Rose.

Schlager plays left-back, Szoboszlai scores twice

The 2-0 win for Leipzig, who clearly had the upper hand from the start, was down to Dominik Szoboszlai, who scored from the edge of the penalty area (43′) and this time – alongside U-19 attacker Ohene Köhl – acted as a striker. Xaver Schlager also found himself in an unfamiliar position, the defensive midfielder replaced the left-back. “He did it very well, Xaver always gives us a lot,” the RB coach praised the Austrian, but at the same time emphasized that Schlager will continue to have his footballing home in midfield in the future.

In addition to the six world championship drivers and the injured Christopher Nkunku and Timo Werner, Hugo Novoa (after infection), Janis Blaswich, Willi Orban and Marcel Halstenberg (all load control) were absent.

Rose gives the offspring a chance

In the second half, the hosts were initially lucky that Luis Machado only hit the crossbar of the RB goal (48th). On the other side, substitute keeper Jakub Ojrznski prevented Amadou Haidara from making it 3-0 (60′), before Emil Forsberg failed to hit the Radomer goal’s crossbar (64′) and shortly afterwards Köhl increased it to 3-0 (66′). It was then up to Szoboszlai to make it 4-0.

Otherwise, after Köhl, Rose also gave the other young actors Max Voigt, Daniel Ihendu, Yannick Eduardo and Simon Schierack. Kenny Hennig and Pierre Weber a chance. U-19 player Schierack made it 5-0 (86′) before Radom’s defender Alexander Gajgier scored an own goal to make it 6-0 (90’+3′).
