‘Let’s move forward together’, Noja’s campaign slogan during the week of 25N

The Villa de Noja hosts during the week of November 21 to 27, under the motto ‘Let’s move forward together’, different activities and initiatives on the occasion of the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Womenel 25N.

On November 25, at 12:00 noon, the City Council will place the commemorative flag of this day. Likewise, that same day a tent will be set up in the Plaza de la Villa from 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. in collaboration with the Child and Youth Service of the Consistory, EnNojate365. In this space, people who want to can create their own badges with exclusive designs that show their rejection of violence against women. In addition, there will be a wish tree where messages of equality, respect and/or tolerance can be left.

As explained by the Councilor for Social Services and Equality, Rocio Gandara, these initiatives aim to “make visible the commitment of society against this type of violence that is produced solely for being women”, in addition to “showing that it is more necessary than ever for men and women to be united in the face of this threat”. The mayor has also recalled that these 25N activities are added to all those that are being organized during the week, such as the lighting of the most emblematic buildings of the Villa in purple every night until Sunday 27.

Two initiatives that are maintained from previous years will also end on this date. On the one hand, the ‘Stomping against Gender Violence’ campaign, in which the Department of Sports collaborates and in which anyone can participate by sharing a photograph of the distance traveled. The images must be sent to WhatsApp 644 516 229, indicating the Facebook or Instagram account to tag the author. On the same day, the 27th, the total distance traveled will be published.

For another, ‘Photographs in purple’, in which to participate you just have to send one or more photos to the same WhatsApp number or upload it to your personal social networks tagging @ayuntamientodenoja with the hashtag #fotografiasenmorado. The objective is to make visible the fight to eliminate gender violence. All images, which must be original and in vertical format, will be used to disseminate the initiative on social networks and the City Council’s websites.

The mayor of Noja, Miguel Angel Ruiz Lavin, has pointed out the “importance of a day like 25N”, in which “women and men come together to say ‘enough is enough’ to this type of violence”. With these acts, the councilor has affirmed that “Noja intends to show his commitment against sexist aggressions”, defending an “effective and real equality in which the gender of the person is not a factor to live with insecurity”.
