‘Kuyt takes a huge amount upon dismissal’

Dirk Kuyt is under heavy fire as a trainer of ADO Den Haag. Yet the chance is small that the club management will dismiss the 42-year-old Katwijker if we can believe John van Zweden.

John van Zweden contradicts that Kuyt’s severance payment amounts to several million euros, but for a first divisionist it is still a generous amount. Van Sweden, himself an ADO supporter, claims that it concerns 600,000 euros. “That is a considerable amount, which ADO does not have,” said Van Zweden in Veronica Offside.

“The chance that ADO will immediately dismiss Kuyt is not great in my opinion,” continues Van Zweden, who no longer dares to believe in it. “At the beginning I thought: yes. But not anymore. I only see him standing by the side with his arms folded. He stands there like a dead man. That doesn’t encourage the players. The people in the stands are talking about it. I’d rather see a trainer standing by the side who is crazy.”

ADO was stuck on a 0-0 draw at Telstar on Friday, as a result of which it has already failed to win four games in a row. Only four league games were turned into a win at all, and as a result, the club from The Hague remains in a disappointing sixteenth position in the Kitchen Champion Division.
