Minnesota Timberwolves star player Karl-Anthony Towns had to leave Monday’s game against the Washington Wizards with an injury.
The team then announced that Towns would not return due to a right calf strain. The worrying thing is that the inside star had to be assisted to leave the court, since he could not put weight on his leg.
“Hopefully it’s just a strain,” trainer Chris Finch told The Associated Press of the calf evaluation. “We will evaluate it tomorrow and learn more about it.”
“We’re going to have to see what our options are and who’s available at this point,” Finch said. “We’ll have to figure that out when we have more information on Towns.”
Towns had eight points, two rebounds and four assists before exiting the game. The three-time All Star is averaging 21.4 points, 8.5 rebounds and 5.4 assists in the current league campaign with the Timberwolves.
In case the Dominican has to miss several games, Anthony Edward, Rudy Gobert and D’Angelo Russell will have to carry the offensive weight of a Minnesota team that has a record of 10 wins and 11 losses so far.
