Is Luka Doncic sustainable?

In the early hours of Wednesday Luka Doncic equaled a record that remained intact in six decades. The Slovenian player chained seven games of more than 30 points to start the season replicating a feat of the times of Wilt Chamberlain. The legendary center achieved it in 1959 and 1962, with Jack Twyman being the only one to accompany both of them in said feat. But this data is not the protagonist of the article nor the question that accompanies its headline.

The core of all this is that, to accumulate those numbers, Luka Doncic is reaching unbridled usage rates. In these seven games, the Mavs player accumulates more than 40% of the use of his team. In other words, two out of five Dallas offensive actions end in a Doncic shot, assist, loss or caused foul. The figure is colossal and far exceeds the already remarkable 37.4% of last year, which was then the maximum of his career.
