What a crazy scenario! Ghostly since the start of the tournament, the Mexico found his football at the best of times to dominate Saudi Arabia (2-1). Unfortunately for El Tri, the 3rd goal, decisive for the qualification, never fell. Worse still, the Mexicans conceded a goal in stoppage time, completely annihilating their last qualification ambitions.
How paradoxically, this success will therefore keep a huge taste of unfinished business in the Mexican ranks. Because the margin to qualify, they had it. The place to plant this 3rd goal, too. But they came up against either their chronic imprecision (26 shots, 10 on target!), or a recalcitrant referee, or a good Saudi goalkeeper.
At the end of the suspense, Poland therefore snatches the precious sesame for the 8th finals, despite its inglorious defeat against Argentina (0-2). The men of Robert Lewandowski will face the France in 8th grade, while argentina1st in the group without always convincing, will challenge Australia.
For its part, Mexico returns to the country with suitcases of regrets. Those to have passed to a goal (and two yellow cards, but needless to go into details) to qualify. Cruel, cruel.
