The Brooklyn Nets fired coach Steve Nash on Tuesday, ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski reported.
In the 2021-22 season Nash led the team to a record of 48 wins and 24 losses with which they qualified for the playoffs. In the second round they were eliminated via sweep against the Boston Celtics. In general, he says goodbye to the Nets with a record of 92 wins and 62 losses.
Let’s remember that Nash’s situation had been complicated since before the start of the campaign, after rumors emerged that the stars Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving did not want the Canadian to continue in his position. Then things apparently calmed down and he was allowed to continue as coach but with this start of 2 wins and 5 losses the issue became untenable.
Now a report by Shams Charania of The Athletic revealed that the Nets plan to hire Ime Udoka as their new coach.
Recall that the Boston Celtics suspended Udoka before the start of this season for consensual involvement with a member of the team’s staff, something that is prohibited within the organization’s behavior policies.
Boston suspended Udoka for one season and at the time said they would evaluate his situation later, but now they have given him permission to explore other options and everything seems to be agreed for him to go to the Nets starting this Wednesday.
