Hours after he terminated his contract with Deportivo, the former Athletic player announced that he is leaving the sport that he has loved since childhood. Since leaving Athletic in the summer of 2021, Ibai Gómez has played in two squads. At the beginning of the year he signed for the Iranian Foolad to participate in the Asian Champions League.
