Minnesota Timberwolves star player Karl-Anthony Towns had to leave Monday’s game against the Washington Wizards with an injury.
The team then announced that Towns would not be returning due to a right calf strain and it has now been reported that he will be out for 4-6 weeks due to this issue. Even though he doesn’t have structural damage to his Achilles heel as initially feared, his absence will still be quite prolonged.
Towns had to be assisted off the pitch as he couldn’t put any weight on his leg, which of course was not a good sign.
“We’re going to have to see what our options are and who’s available at this point. We’ll have to figure that out when we have more information on Towns,” team coach Chris Finch said Monday night.
Towns had eight points, two rebounds and four assists before exiting the game. The three-time All Star is averaging 21.4 points, 8.5 rebounds and 5.4 assists in the current league campaign with the Timberwolves.
Anthony Edward, Rudy Gobert and D’Angelo Russell will now have to carry the offensive weight of a Minnesota team that has a record of 10 wins and 11 losses so far.
