Historic victory of Morocco against Belgium

Belgium and Morocco met at the Al Thumama Stadium for the second date of group F, the Moroccan team was far superior to a Belgian team without many ideas and they won the victory, which puts them as group leaders.

The match began with Belgium dominating the ball, Morocco waited in an organized manner and with not very high but effective pressure; Although the Belgian team was dominant and had scoring chances, it was not enough to score the first goal of the afternoon. At 21 minutes it was the first shot on goal for the African team; from then on they became more encouraged and began to have more scoring options, the game turned into a two-way game and when the first half was about to end Hakim Ziyech from Morocco executed a free kick that ended in a goal, but the referee stopped it. He saw in the VAR and annulled it due to the offside participation of Roamin SaÏs.

The second half Morocco was more intelligent and organized, both teams had chances to score the first goal, but the Moroccan was the first to do so, in the 73rd minute Abdelhamid Sabir fired the free kick that ended up inside Courtuois’s goal, the hubbub and madness was impressive, the Moroccans completely took over the stadium and there was a real party. When the game was already dying, at 92′ Sakaira Aboukhlal delivered the final blow and scored the second goal, the historic victory.

With this result, Morocco has 4 points and is the new leader in group F, waiting for Croatia and Canada, but it took an important step towards the round of 16. While Belgium was left with 3 points, the victory in the last game against Canada continues to keep them alive in the World Cup.
