height duel on the track of Perfumerías Avenida

Another tall challenge. Depleted by absences, and after having played last Wednesday in Luxembourg, Casademont is now beset by another highly demanding match: he visits the court at Perfumerías Avenida (6:00 p.m.), the current champion of the Women’s League and one of the most imposing teams on the continental scene. Despite everything, the team from Zaragoza goes to the confrontation with confidence and security, convinced of their chances of victory.

In fact, Carlos Cantero’s squad has been exhibiting an admirable competitive capacity this season, in the domestic tournament and also in the Eurocup, and currently governs the two championships with solvency and determination, with hardly any blemish. In the Women’s League, Casademont has recorded five wins in the six games played, after beating Ensino (68-63), Gran Canaria (65-81), Tenerife (68-50), Jairis (45-66) and Girona (61-60); while his only defeat occurred in Valencia (63-58), on the court of one of the best teams in Europe, and after having kept ambitions of victory until the last stages of the duel.

The successful trajectory of the Aragonese also extends to the Eurocup, where they are leaders of their group with three wins in the three games played so far. Cantero’s team beat the Belgian Castors Braine (67-81), on the opening day; was later beaten by Cadí La Seu (56-55), in the Príncipe Felipe pavilion, and last Wednesday he took another step forward with another resounding victory in a third-party rodeo, this time in Luxembourg against BBC Grengewald (54-81).

Emotionally rearmed after their last performances –especially important was last Sunday’s victory against Girona–, The Aragonese defend the lead this Saturday against one of the most brilliant squads in the championship. Of course, the Salamanca team has already starred in two unexpected setbacks, having bowed the knee against Ensino (62-55) and IDK Euskotren (83-70). Their four wins were against Gran Canaria (69-58), Valencia (79-63), Bembibre (76-56) and Leganés (75-85).

The Casademont appears in Salamanca very weak in the inside game: he is pending to incorporate a pivot to replace Merrit Hempe’s departure, while Vega Gimeno continues to recover from his calf injury. In addition, Carmen Grande continues with shoulder problems. Despite everything, the Casademont keeps the faith.
