Very young scordiensi bearers of the Greco-Roman Wrestling and Female Wrestling in great show, at the tricolor competitive events of Ostia Lido, a coastal fraction of Rome, in the categories “Beginners” and “Boys”, who have alternated in the competitions of recent days. A “two days” branded “FIJLKAM” – Italian Federation of Judo, Wrestling, Karate, Martial Arts -, with “budding” wrestlers from all over Italy, who met at the PalaPellicone in Ostia.
Six medals have been brought home, a rich booty of gold, silver and bronze medals, won by the Etna patrol of young “lions” wrestlers and female wrestlers of the “Wrestling Scordia” company, forge of great “budding” champions; here they are: Maria Antonietta Caldiero (Italian champion Esordienti in 46 kg), Maria Barbara Cunsolo (bronze Esordienti in 54 kg), Enrico Giuseppe Caldiero (bronze Esordienti in 38 kg), Giulia Mangano (Italian champion for boys in 51 kg), Francesco Corsaro ( silver Boys in 30 kg), Grazia Greta Caldiero (bronze Boys in 27 kg). They are proud of these guys, the teacher Gianluca Caniglia and the coach Giuseppe Christian Caniglia of the “Wrestling Scordia”, as they are young athletes “who enrich with satisfaction: after our third place in the ranking of the companies in the boys class women’s wrestling, we repeated the result in the Beginners A class, always in the women’s fight. The hope is that these results will push the girls more and more to try the noble art of fighting ”.
Specifically in the competitive event, among the “Beginners A”, Maria Antonietta Caldiero won four matches without even losing a point, showing that she is clearly superior to her opponents; Maria Barbara Cunsolo, winning the bronze in the 54 kg, prevailed in three matches and almost reached the final for the title; Enrico Giuseppe Caldiero won the bronze medal in the 38 kg, after having won two matches against bigger opponents and showing great strength and technical qualities; among the “Boys”, Giulia Mangano made her the title of Italian champion in the 51 kg, winning three matches, showing great tenacity and showing off a lot of courage; second step of the podium for Francesco Corsaro in 30 kg, after two exciting winning matches; then a bronze for Grazia Greta Caldiero in the 27 kg, a small athlete who touched the Italian title after a good performance, unable only to finish the match with the knockdown of the opponent.
For the first time in its history, therefore, Wrestling Scordia manages to get on the podium of the Companies, winning the third place in the Women’s Wrestling. This confirms that the women’s struggle in Scordia is experiencing a moment of great growth on the national scene. Promising “Grecoromanist” wrestlers and “lionesses” from Scordi, who showed a generous and high-level performance in the Roman trip, giving battle as always happens on the national stage of the PalaPellicone, now make the Etna fight dream big.
