German players protest against FIFA before game against Japan

The players of the German national team protested against FIFA this Wednesday, before the ball rolled against Japan, at the Khalifa International Stadium, for the 1st round of group E of the 2022 World Cup.

When it was time to take the official photo before the match, the Germans covered their mouths, in a clear display of discontent with FIFA and the organization of the World Cup in Qatar.

The protest comes days after FIFA prohibited several national teams from wearing the rainbow captain’s armband, in support of the LGBTQIA+ movement, under penalty of sporting and financial penalties.

This Wednesday, the goalkeeper Manuel Neuer, of the European team, wore the “official” FIFA bracelet, with the inscription “No discrimination”.

Now it remains to be seen if the demonstration by the Germans will be sanctioned by the Disciplinary Committee of the entity.

So far, the Committee has only acted against Ecuador in the World Cup, opening a disciplinary process for the chants of the country’s fans against Chile in the match against Qatar, for the opening of the World Cup, the same procedure that began against Mexico.
