FIFA allows rainbow clothing to enter stadiums, German federation continues protest | football world cup

In the first game against the United States, various fans of Wales, including hats in rainbow colors, were refused entry to the stadium. “We have received confirmation from FIFA that hats and flags in rainbow colors are allowed in the stadium. All stadiums have been notified,” the Football Association of Wales said.

During this World Cup there is a lot to do about expressions that promote inclusion. The captains of the Netherlands, Germany, England, Wales, Belgium, Switzerland and Denmark wanted to play in Qatar with the special OneLove captain’s armband. However, FIFA announced that yellow cards would follow, after which the national associations decided to abandon the plan.

Earlier this World Cup, fans who wore a rainbow hat were refused, among other things, at the game of Wales against the United States. A journalist with rainbow colors on his shirt also did not enter the stadium.

German Football Association displays OneLove symbol in media center at World Cup

The German Football Association has not resigned itself to banning the OneLove campaign during the World Cup in Qatar. The DFB will display the symbol on the billboards in their media center in Al Shamal.

The OneLove symbol replaces the logo of a sponsor who has previously withdrawn on the boards in front of the players and staff during media events.

Germany was one of the countries, including the Netherlands, that planned to wear the special OneLove captain’s armband to promote inclusion in Qatar. The plan fell through after a threat from the world football association FIFA. Prior to the first duel with Japan, the German team then demonstratively covered their mouths in the team photo. The game ended in a 2-1 win for Japan.
