According to the latest rumors, the engine regulations for 2026 do not seem to be in place yet. Ferrari, together with two other suppliers, has not yet signed, and especially for Ferrari this is for a striking reason.

The Italian branch knows this Motorsport.com to report. According to the site, three parties have now officially registered as engine suppliers for 2026: Mercedes, Audi and Red Bull Powertrains. Ferrari has not yet done this, while Renault and Porsche are also missing. Where Porsche has a simple reason and Renault is willing to sign the regulations, Ferrari has not yet signed the regulations for a clear reason. According to Ferrari, Red Bull Powertrains would benefit too much from the current partnership with Honda, which will last until the end of 2025.

Benefit

There is a logical reason for this for Ferrari, according to the rumors. “Maranello does not like that Red Bull Powertrains is seen as a new engine manufacturer. In this way, the Austrian team can benefit from the concessions, just like Audi. Ferrari is afraid that the multiple constructors’ champion will gain a technical advantage through all the concessions. The Scuderia is often very accommodating in its political choices, but this time the team really want to hit the table.” According to Ferrari, the technical knowledge that Honda has would therefore be an (unfair) advantage for Red Bull Powertrains towards 2026.

Deadline

The deadline for registering as an engine supplier for 2026, which has already been pushed back several times due to problems, is now November 15. Since that date has also passed for a while now, the FIA seems to have a problem and may have to move the date again. The date was previously set on October 15, but Red Bull Powertrains had not yet registered at that time. This has now happened, but now it is Ferrari that is not yet prepared to sign. However, Ferrari is not the only problem, because the names of Renault and Porsche are also missing. There are doubts at Porsche now that the supplier is struggling to find a partner in Formula 1. Renault has not yet signed, but is rumored to be planning to do so. In any case, the engine regulations of 2026 still seem anything but complete, and an extension of the deadline again seems a matter of time.
