Ferrari trucks blocked by pro-Bolsonaro protesters

A convoy of trucks carrying equipment from the F1 team Ferrari was temporarily blocked on Tuesday by a roadblock of truckers refusing to accept the electoral defeat of far-right Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro.

Footage from EPTV, a subsidiary of TV channel Globo in Campinas, shows several lorries loaded with bright red containers with the famous prancing horse logo stopped on the side of the road outside Viracopos airport, near Campinas, in the state of Sao Paulo (southeast), two weeks before the Brazilian Grand Prix.

The Brazilian Automobile Confederation (CBA) confirmed to the Globoesporte site that the Italian team’s convoy had to “stop at the exit of Viracopos”.

The Ferrari trucks were then able to get back on the road “thanks to a quick intervention by the Military Police and arrived as planned at Interlagos”, where the circuit that will host the Brazilian GP on Sunday November 13 is located, with the first free practice on Friday 11.

Roads began to be blocked Sunday evening by Bolsonarist truckers protesting against the victory of left-wing candidate Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva in the second round of the presidential election against Jair Bolsonaro.

The latter has still not recognized his defeat, two days after the announcement of the result.

The movement of truckers has spread over almost the entire territory and the Federal Road Police (PRF) reported on Tuesday 267 blockades, total or partial, in at least 22 of the 27 states of Brazil.
