Ex-LeBron Cash teammate: “AD has to do this, he has no choice”

Pointed at the Lakers, Anthony Davis is less and less unanimous in the City of Angels. According to a former companion of LeBron James, The Brow had better be inspired by a legend of the Californian house, in order to put everyone in agreement.

On paper, the stats ofAnthony Davis are far from ridiculous. More than 23 points, 10 rebounds, 2 assists and two blocks per game, it is even quite within his standards since he is the teammate of LeBron James to the Lakers. Only here, as beautiful as his figures are, they do not really have an impact on his franchise which has been losing at great speed (2-10, 14th in the Western Conference).

This is hardly reassuring in the context of the 2022-23 season, but also concerning the future of the Pourpres et Ors since the King, again on the flank recently, will soon resume his retirement and it is at the former Pelican to take its place as leader. What to do so that he can make the Californians actually better, which he is not badly accused of? Channing Frye, champion in 2016 with LeBron, gave an interesting advice to The Brow in an interview with the radio SiriusXM :

Channing Frye’s big tip for Anthony Davis

Anthony Davis is the biggest “what if” in the league because you can go from 8th place to a title with him. That’s how good he is. I think he lost his youthful exuberance for basketball. And whether it’s because of injuries or mentally, he has an excuse like “we don’t have any shooters” and “it’s too hard”, he goes to the game thinking “even if I’m playing well, we not going to win”.

He has to adopt the mentality of Kobe and say to himself: “I don’t care who is with me, I will make sure that this team wins”. I know it’s exhausting, it’s a lot to put on your shoulders, but when you’re a generational player, you have to do it. It’s just a responsibility that comes with getting that blessing.

Following the departure of the Shaq in the mid-2000s, the former LA back had effectively had to carry his team alone for several seasons. If the collective results were not always there, that did not prevent the Mamba from giving everything on the floors, releasing monstrous individual performances in order to keep his people afloat. According to Frye, AD should adopt this same mentality, for the good of its franchise.

In order to help the Lakers get much better and get out of their crisis, Anthony Davis should take inspiration from Kobe Bryant and adopt the same competitive spirit as him. LeBron James being affected by injuries, it would not be a bad idea on his part.
