End of sporting career for Classic Moet and Faerie Dianimo / Complete / Sport / Home

As the eventing season draws to a close, Jonelle Price also took the opportunity to announce the end of the sporting careers of two mares that have undeniably marked her life as a rider: Classic Moet (Classic) and Faerie Dianimo (Dimaggio).

Respectively aged nineteen and seventeen, the two mares, owned by the Rickards family and Jonelle Price, have almost exclusively distinguished themselves under the saddle of the current world number two for almost ten years. And the least we can say is that the black and the gray ended their career in style. This year, a few months after its eleventh place in the mythical CCI5*-L of Badminton, Classic Moet was ranked fourth in that of Burghley. A format that seemed particularly suited to her since in 2021, she finished seventh at Lexington and eighth at Elkton, after offering her rider her first victory in CCI5* at Badminton in 2018. Even more, it is thanks to Classic Moet that Jonelle Price scored a fine individual fourth place at the World Equestrian Games in Caen in 2014, and took part in those in Tryon four years later. It should also be noted that the black mare, born to Elaine Hepworth in Great Britain, did not shine only in eventing, and distinguished herself, at the same time, up to CSI4*.

As for Faerie Dianimo, it was she who enabled the New Zealand rider, only a few months after her first success at this level, to win a second CCI5*-L in Luhmühlen. It is also with her that Jonelle Price took the road to the Rio Olympics in 2016, where the duo finished in seventeenth individual position. It must be said that the two accomplices know each other by heart, Jonelle having trained the beautiful gray from an early age and had notably taken her to the Lion d’Angers, on the occasion of the world championships reserved for young horses. In short, Classic Moet and Faerie Dianimo have played an undeniable role in the career of the current world number two and have certainly participated in his rise. ” They have done so much for my career. They taught me how to compete on the world stage and allowed me to make many of my dreams come true. I will miss them immensely and I am truly indebted to them for all they have done for me. […] I owe them everything “wrote Jonelle Price in a touching message posted on her social networks. These are two great champions who are now hanging up their irons, and to whom we wish retirements as beautiful as their careers have been!
