“It was a complicated year. Many positive things but unfortunately many difficult times, sometimes bad luck; in my opinion, given the difficulties, it is not a bad year, with all that has happened. I really tried to think positively, it was mentally difficult. I tried, I worked hard, I didn’t regret playing. This Saturday, the team felt that was the best solution. Even though it was difficult, I am proud. We must not hide, I know that I can play much better than that; what Filippo asked of me was to put my heart into it and give what I had; obviously, I have already felt better during my career, but in the Davis Cup, you have to give everything.
