Celtics receive salary exception for Gallinari injury

It seems to have rained a lot since Danilo Gallinari became one of the main reinforcements for the Celtics squad. The former Hawks, Nuggets and Clippers forward, among others, suffered a knee injury with the Italian team that may leave him without playing the entire course. Just before, he had signed with Boston for two years and twelve million dollars. Or what is the same, for the average exception for teams that pay luxury tax. After his release, the Celtics requested compensation from the league, which has given them 3.21 million exception that they will be able to spend before March 10.

This exception is intended for teams that are over or about to exceed the salary cap. In this way, Boston will be able to exercise this option by signing free agents for that annual value – a little higher than the veteran minimum – or make a transfer that increases its salary mass by 3.21 million or less. Last year the Celtics enjoyed several salary exceptions for players who left via trade and ended up using practically none. His big move of the season was the arrival of Derrick White, for whom they let out Josh Richardson, Romeo Langford and a couple of first rounds.
