Caja Rural scholarships to five people from Alto Aragonese

The Board of Trustees of the Caja Rural de Aragón Foundation has awarded the Excellence Scholarships 2022 to twenty young peoplewho are recognized for their joint effort in study and sports.

All of them are students who attended ESO or Bachiller in 2021/2022, between 12 and 18 years old and that shone sportingly from September 1, 2021 to September 1, 2022.

One hundred thirty-three applications have been submitted to this fifth call which grants 900 euros to each of the twenty young people. 61.6% of the total number of candidacies submitted were from women and 38.4% from men. A total of 27 sports federations have been represented through young people who practice sports in an outstanding way.

Of the total number of files received, 10 applications correspond to young people who completed the 2nd year of Baccalaureate in the last year and thus ends your age to apply for these scholarships. On the contrary, 23 candidates presented themselves for the first time when they were in 1st year of ESO last school year.

Nine of them achieved the Excellence Scholarship in 2021 and repeat in this year’s edition and one of them, David Cartiel, has obtained it in the last four consecutive editions. The twelve young people who receive the Excellence Scholarship for the first time they join the 51 excellent ones that have received it to date, reaching a total of 63 people who have been beneficiaries of this Scholarship in its five editions held.

The weight of academic grades in the overall score calculation was 40% while the sports part was awarded 60%, according to the call bases.

The average academic grade obtained by the twenty selected files in this edition it is 9.04 while 70% of young people are state champions in their sports specialty. Despite their youth, fourteen of them have already participated in international competitions representing Spain and have obtained the European or world title. Twelve sports federations will be represented at the upcoming ceremony.

The delivery of the Excellence Scholarships will take place on December 22 at 6:00 p.m. at the Caja Rural de Aragón Building in Zaragoza, at a gala in which they will be accompanied by family, coaches and friends.

And of those twenty young athletes with scholarships, five belong to the province of Huesca. These are the Huesca La Magia Badminton players Raúl Bergua and Alejandro Gállego, the Carrodilla Cabestre Mountain Racing runner, a native of Estadilla, the Huesca chess player María Eizaguerri and the athlete from Velilla de Cinca, who competes with Valencia, Elena Guiu .
