A convivial and friendly moment on Saturday morning in the brasserie du Clos, headquarters of the Montauroux football sports association.
Indeed, Alex Maziers, the president, and Nébil Bounab, the vice-president, had invited the mayor, Jean-Yves Huet (honorary president), the sponsors, the players and friends of the club for the presentation of the new shirts both expected.
And the icing on the cake, the club’s godfather, Bruno Bellone, had made the trip from Cannet-Rocheville to immortalize this moment.
Connect with youth
The club has just been created and the results were not long in coming. Seven games played for six wins and a draw and the key, first place in the departmental championship of D4.
Alex wanted to thank the sponsors “without whom nothing would have been possible and it was very hard at the start because we no longer have an approved pitch in Montauroux at the moment… but an agreement has been signed with ComCom so that our home matches are played on the inter-municipal land of Fayence, pending the renovation of the Montaurous stadium of Défens”. And to recall the motto of the club “to us the victory”, in reference to the film on the great Pelé of 1980.
So why a football club in Montauroux, when there is already an intermunicipal one? “The reason is simple, we wanted to bring a new impetus between the relations that the municipal police want to maintain (of which Alex is the head) with the sometimes idle youth and the population, a bet won thanks to tremendous emulation and the efforts of all “.
In conclusion? “We found a goal and our pride and for the opening of the World Cup it seemed appropriate to present our club to the press in the presence of our sponsor”.
A prestigious sponsor
Nicknamed Lucky Luke, in reference to his speed, Bruno Bellone has 34 selections for the French team and was French champion in 1982 with AS Monaco and winner of the French Cup in 1985, before then playing for the clubs of Cannes and Montpelier.
Bruno is the antistar and without waffling he said to himself “happy to find my friends and delighted to help amateur football which is suffering enormously. If the latter disappears, there will be no more professionals, so the Federation must make an effort and in particular on the price of licenses”.
