Blue Jays | Vladimir Guerrero receives the first Golden Glove of his career

(Toronto) Toronto Blue Jays first baseman Vladimir Guerrero won a Gold Glove for the first time in his career in the American.

The 23-year-old athlete edged out Luis Arraez of the Twins and Anthony Rizzo of the Yankees.

It comes two years after Guerrero moved to first base from third base early in his career.

Guerrero took part in 80 double plays and committed 10 errors, in 160 games.

A Gold Glove is awarded each year to the best defensive player in his position, in each league.

The World Series has three representatives on the honor roll: Astros shortstop Jeremy Pena and right fielder Kyle Tucker, and Phillies wide receiver JT Realmuto.

This is a first Gold Glove for Astros players. Realmuto also had the distinction in 2019.

Pena is the first rookie to earn a Gold Glove at shortstop, according to statistics bureau Elias.

Cardinals third baseman Nolan Arena earned the honor for the 10e year in a row.

Dodgers outfielder Mookie Betts won a Gold Glove for the sixth time.

The Guardians did well: pitcher Shane Bieber, second baseman Andres Gimenez, left fielder Steven Kwan and center fielder Myles Straw were all rewarded.

In the American, the other recipients were Yankees wide receiver Jose Trevino, Orioles third baseman Ramon Urias and Yankees infielder DJ LeMahieu.

In the National, we also highlighted the work of pitcher Max Fried and shortstop Dansby Swanson, the Braves, infielder Brendan Donovan, the Cards, first baseman Christian Walker, the Diamondbacks, the second baseman Brendan Rodgers of the Rockies, left fielder Ian Happ of the Cubs and center fielder Trent Grisham of the Padres.
