Former high jumper Blanka Vlašić (39) is said to have given birth to a son. That writes the Croatian press. Vlašić married sports journalist Ruben Van Gucht (35) earlier this year.

Blanka Vlašić would have given birth on Tuesday morning, on her birthday. Van Gucht already shared on Instagram on Monday that he was in Croatia, his “second home”. The sports journalist is said to have waited outside the operating theater while Vlašić underwent a cesarean section. The Croatian press writes that Van Gucht shed tears when he received the good news that his son was born.
Mother and child would be fine. According to Croatian media, the baby was named Mondo. He measures 53 centimeters and weighs 4,350 kilograms.
Ruben Van Gucht announced in May of this year that he was married to the high jump champion, and that they were expecting a child together.
