Super season, super award…
Real clipper Karim Benzema (34) received the Ballon d’Or a few weeks ago. But there was no congratulations from an ex-teammate of all people!
As the Frenchman now reveals on “Téléfoot”, the five-time world footballer Cristiano Ronaldo (37) did not congratulate him on the award. “No, not yet, but I’m relaxed,” Benzema replied when asked if the Portuguese had contacted him.
Ronaldo would have had enough time, after all, the Ballon d’Or gala was already on October 17th.
This missing gesture is particularly surprising because the two professionals had played together at Real Madrid for nine years before Ronaldo left the royal team in 2018.
In addition to Benzema, only Luka Modric (37) has managed to break the dominance of Lionel Messi (35) and Ronaldo at the Ballon d’Or awards in the past 15 years.
