Bayern Munich takes 3rd time in 4 years 18 out of 18 in the group stage | UEFA Champions League 2022/2023

Before the start of the match, Bayern was already certain of a group win, Inter of second place in the group. So there wasn’t much at stake other than honor.

The biggest motivation for Bayern was to reach 18 out of 18 in the group stage of the Champions League for the third time in four years. With that, the Rekordmeister would set another record to his name.

Still, it was Inter that started the game best. Barella had no hesitation when a corner fell at his feet and sent a ball from the edge of the box. Ulreich had to allow another corner.

Déjà vu less than a minute after that first chance: again Barella was allowed to build after a corner from almost the same place. This time the ball didn’t hit Ulreich’s hand, but Mané’s. Referee Kruzliak was called to the screen by the VAR. He rightly ruled that it was not a penalty for Inter, but face protection from Mane.

After that, Bayern took command, without creating great opportunities. Inter appeared again in front of Ulreich’s goal after a deep ball from De Vrij. Gosens was able to score low in front of goal, but the sliding Lautaro Martinez passed the ball incomprehensibly.

The signal for the home team to press on. A corner from Kimmich ended up at the completely detached Pavard. The Frenchman couldn’t miss anymore and headed the 1-0 on the board. For the rest of the first half, the 2-0 was closer than the 1-1.

Inter coach Inzaghi had sent his team onto the field with renewed courage in the second half. A free kick goal was disallowed for offside.

Bayern soon took control of the match again. Choupo-Moting scored his first great goal of the evening with an overhead kick, albeit from offside. Moments later, he cashed in on his top form with a nice goal tonight.

2-0 and book to Inter, who could no longer claim a goal. In the ultimate final Dzeko was still close to the honour-owner, but Ulreich made a good save.

Bayern Munich takes 18 out of 18 in the Champions League for the second season in a row. The Rekordmeister already did that in the 2019-2020 year. With 3 clear group stages it is now the only record holder.
