Basketball: Despite an excellent Capela, Atlanta bows
The 15 points and 19 rebounds of the Geneva pivot were not enough. The Hawks were defeated by Utah (119-125). In the other matches of the night, the Clippers beat the Lakers (114-101).
The Atlanta Hawks’ three-game NBA winning streak came to an end overnight Wednesday through Thursday. Clint Capela and his teammates suffered the law of Utah (119-125), leader of the Western Conference. Although defeated, the Geneva pivot delivered an excellent performance with 15 points, 19 rebounds and a differential of +7 in 26’11 of play. The Jazz were able to count on a decisive Lauri Markkanen. The 25-year-old Finn scored 32 points.
As part of the Los Angeles derby, the Clippers overthrew the Lakers (114-101) to inflict a fourth consecutive setback, despite LeBron James’ 30 units. The Lakers have not won against their rival, in an official match, since the 2020 play-offs.
Defeated by Atlanta on Monday, the Milwaukee Bucks resumed their march forward by winning in pain and without Giannis Antetokounmpo, against Oklahoma City (136-132). American Jevon Carter led the Bucks with 36 points and 12 assists.
