Athletics is again the Federation that receives the most money from the IOC after the Olympics

Despite the expenses generated by the changes in the sports calendar derived from the coronavirus pandemicincluding the delay of the Tokyo Games from 2020 to 2021, the IOC has again distributed between the international federations 540.29 million dollars from the income of the Gamesthe same amount as in Rio 2016, and again with the athletics federation as the most benefited, with 39.4 million.

Behind World Athletics, the gymnastics and swimming federations form a second group that has received 31.36 million.

Those of basketball, soccer, volleyball, tennis and cycling have received 24.34 million in the distribution.

In the fourth step, with 17.3 million, are badminton, rowing, judo, shooting, table tennis, weightlifting, archery and boxing.although this amount has been withheld as it is suspended by the IOC due to its administrative and financial irregularities.

The equestrian, fencing, hockey, canoeing, handball, triathlon, wrestling, sailing and taekwondo federations will receive 15.1 million.

Modern pentathlon, golf and rugby close the distribution, with 12.98.

The distribution is made following historical, popularity or audience criteria, among others.

Figures released by the Association of Summer Olympic Federations (ASOIF) do not include karate, baseball/softball, rock climbing, surfing and skateboarding federationsadditional sports on the Tokyo 2020 program.

The ASOIF itself received 2.7 millionlike three years ago after the Rio Games.

The IOC entered during the 2017-2021 Olympiadaccording to its own figures, 7,600 million dollars thanks to the sale of television rights and commercialization of the Games and other sources of financing. The body redistributes 90% of this income among the members of the Olympic Movement and keeps the remaining 10% for its own activities.

It is estimated that, on average, every day 4.2 million dollars leave the coffers of the IOC to finance the different actors of the Olympism.
