Arhan’s Primary Season One Story in Japan: Adaptation, Loneliness, to Contracts Page all

KOMPAS.com – The star of the Indonesian national team, Pratama Arhan, admitted that he learned many things during one season of pursuing a career in Japan with Tokyo Verdy.

The first season of Arhan’s Primary with Tokyo Verdy can’t be said to have gone smoothly when viewed in terms of playing time.

Pratama Arhan has only played once for 45 minutes throughout the second tier of the Japanese League, J2 League, 2022 season.

Arhan’s Primary debut occurred on week 25 of the 2022 J2 League when Tokyo Verdy beat Tochigi SC 1-0.

At that time, Pratama Arhan appeared as a starter to fill the post of Tokyo Verdy’s right winger for 45 minutes until the end of the first half.

Arhan’s Primary debut was very interesting because he did not play in his original position, namely right-back.

Regarding the fact that he only played once in his debut season with Tokyo Verdy, Pratama Arhan admitted that he was very grateful.

The 20-year-old didn’t seem disappointed knowing that he was still in the process of adapting while the Japanese League’s quality was far above Indonesia’s.

This was conveyed by Pratama Arhan in a virtual press conference which was also attended by Kompas.com on Wednesday (9/11/2022) afternoon WIB.

“It is a reality (only playing one game for 45 minutes in a season),” said Primary Arhan.

“I am grateful to have the opportunity to play here. The Japanese League is the best competition in Asia,” said Primary Arhan.

“I learned many things during one season here. I learned a lot to improve my quality little by little,” said the former PSIS Semarang player.

“My target next season, of course, is to get more playing minutes. The adaptation process has gone well. I am ready to face next season,” said Pratama Arhan.

Furthermore, Primary Arhan also told about his adaptation process while in Japan.

The player who was born in Blora, Central Java, admitted that he still often feels lonely because he doesn’t have many friends.

However, Primary Arhan ensures that it does not interfere with the adaptation process while in Japan.

“The thing I didn’t like while in Japan was maybe feeling alone because I didn’t have any friends,” said Primary Arhan with a laugh.

“Maybe it’s a language barrier. I also rarely go out with my teammates. However, for me it’s not a problem,” said First Arhan.

“I’m used to life in Japan. The people here are friendly. The environment is also good. Everything has stabilized regarding adaptation,” said Primary Arhan.

In his statement, Pratama Arhan also explained the differences in the quality of the Japanese League and the Indonesian League.

Pratama Arhan considered the Japanese League to be of higher quality, especially because it requires players to think quickly.

“The training menus in Indonesia and Japan are not much different. However, the intensity of training in Japan is higher. All players must always focus,” said Pratama Arhan.

“In Indonesia, there may be times when players joke during practice. Here, everyone must always focus,” said Primary Arhan.

“The thing I have to improve again is maybe thinking fast. I’m starting to get used to it. Fast passing. Fast positioning,” said Pratama Arhan.

“The quality of J2 is far above Indonesia. All details are considered. The tempo of the match here is faster,” said Pratama Arhan.

Regarding his future, Primary Arhan refused to talk much when asked about the contract with Tokyo Verdy.
