MOKRICE (Slovenia) – It’s Marco Cesari, a Pistoia native from Serravalle, the world champion of “silhouette archery”. Marco graduated in this difficult specialty just tonight, after a fight at the last…. arrow with Slovak Malek.

Cesari has been close to the podium since the beginning, two days ago, when the Slovak finished in the lead, preceding him by 19 points. Yesterday and today the comeback, which moved up the rankings and ended in the last two pitches, when the Serravallino took the lead, getting his hands on the gold medal.

The ranking closed with Cesari at 2446 points, followed by the Slovenian Jakub Malek and the Austrian Johannes Windlroither.

The championships were held in Slovenia organized by the IAA (International Archery Association). Marco Cesari took part in the national selection, representing FIDASC (the Italian Federation of hunting sports weapons).

A competition that took place in a very technical way along three routes on 28 pitches: with only one arrow available with three-dimensional shapes placed at variable distances from 5 to 45 metres.

“An indescribable emotion – Cesari tells us straight away – at the end of a very tough race which was decided at the last dive. What a huge thrill I felt”. An emotion that comes after hard work. “I’ve been preparing for a year and a half and the sacrifices have borne fruit”.

Tomorrow the awards ceremony. But Marco Cesari’s adventure isn’t over yet. Tomorrow it is already time for the Serravallino archer to take up his bow again: in fact, the team competition is scheduled and he is part of the Italian national team, from which other positive surprises could come.
