Amateur sports: 53 athletes rewarded by the Foundation for Athlete Excellence

the 6e edition of the Bonneville 808 Challenge once again enabled the Foundation for Athlete Excellence (FAEQ) to award numerous scholarships. More specifically, 53 outstanding student-athletes shared a total sum of $173,000 granted by 21 sponsors or partners of the event.

This sixth version of the Bonneville 808 Challenge was organized on September 16 and 17, in Mont-Tremblant. The event, presented by Fenplast and Lowe’s Canada, in collaboration with Lussier and Quebecor, raised no less than $400,000.

During the award ceremony at the new Maison du loisirs et du sport du Québec, the presenting sponsors Fenplast ($18,000) and Lowe’s Canada ($10,000), the major partners Bonneville ($60,000) , Planète Courrier ($22,000) and Quebecor ($12,000) as well as 16 other sponsors or partners were able to award the scholarships and personally meet the student-athletes they support.

“For a 6e consecutive year, the Bonneville 808 Challenge has been able to generate great emotions and inspire both participants on the start line and at the finish line and young student-athletes. who deserve a scholarship today. Thanks to their efforts in their sport and on the school benches, but also thanks to the efforts and self-transcendence of those who pedaled and took up a challenge for them last September, 53 young people will be able to say that the Bonneville 808 Challenge has made a small difference in their journey,” said Dany Bonneville, founding president of the Bonneville 808 Challenge and FAEQ administrator.

“It is with great joy today that we see the fruits of the presentation of the Bonneville 808 Challenge. This general public cycling event was again this year a philanthropic gesture of great value. Sponsors and partners first had the chance to take up a healthy and pleasant sporting challenge while rubbing shoulders with several scholarship recipients. Then, they have the opportunity to financially and morally support young students and student-athletes in their academic and athletic pursuits. For six years now, the Bonneville 808 Challenge has marked the end of summer and the start of the new school year in a wonderful way for our recipients, who greatly benefit from the efforts put into its organization,” said Martin Lavigne, President of the Athlete’s Foundation. of excellence
