The French Ski Federation (FFS) announced the bad news on Friday. Thibaut Favrot, fifth for the giant in the Beijing Olympics in February, suffered a ruptured cruciate ligament in his left knee and must end his season.

“After a fall in Levi in Finland, Thibaut Favrot suffered a rupture of the anterior cruciate ligament with damage to the external side of the left knee. He will be treated surgically as soon as possible in Lyon. His season is over“, writes the FFS in a press release. Ninth in the world in giant in 2021, the Alsatian, aged 27, finished 10th in the opening giant of Sölden (Austria) at the end of October.
