Alejandro Martínez, gold medal in the National Military Judo Championship – Sports – Ceuta al Día

New conquest for the sport of mackerel: the judoka Alejandro Martínez, from the USHIRO Club, a sergeant of the Army, has returned to Ceuta through the front door after several days of competition away from home.

After achieving silver a few dates ago in the Andalusian Tournament, the man from Ceuta has climbed this week to the top of the podium of the National Military Judo Championship within the -81 kg weight modality, a competition that has been developed in the municipality A Coruña de Ferrol between the 22nd and 25th of this month of November and to which numerous athletes from the different branches of the Armed Forces have attended.

Martínez could not start the tournament better. He himself prevailed over four of his opponents on the first day of the championship -with individual crosses- before reaching the grand final, where he faced (and defeated) Miguel Ángel Borrallo, captain of the Air Force.

The following day, the team tests were carried out, where the Army repeated the victory achieved in 2017 after defeating all its contenders on the tatami. The second and third places went to the Air Force and the Civil Guard, respectively.

In the closing ceremony for the awards ceremony, our judoka not only hung the gold medal around his neck for the fourth consecutive year; Martínez also obtained the trophy for the most outstanding military athlete for his good work, an award that entails the explicit recognition of ‘high performance athlete’.
