AC Milan – Salzburg 4:0, AC Milan and Leipzig celebrate progress in the Champions League. Real scored five goals

Group H was surprisingly dominated by Benfica Lisbon ahead of Paris St. Germain thanks to the higher number of goals scored away from home. The Lisbon outfit crushed Maccabi 6-1 in Haifa, while PSG won 2-1 against Juventus in Turin.

Giroud, who split two goals into both halves, helped Milan triumph over Salzburg. At the beginning of the second act, Krunič scored, Messias sealed the result in the setup. The reigning Austrian champion will at least make an appearance in the knockout phase of the Europa League.

Before the last round, Chelsea already had a certain lead in Group E. Group F was dominated by defending champions Real Madrid, who crushed Celtic Glasgow 5-1. In the battle between the two reigning league champions, the “White Ballet” was leading 2:0 after 21 minutes. Both goals came from penalties. Modrič converted the first, Rodrygo the second. In the second half, Asensio, Vinícius Júnior and Valverde were among the scorers, Celtic’s debacle was mitigated by Jota. The Scottish team finished last in the group with two points.

Benfica’s crushing triumph in Israel was also helped by former players. Forward Musa scored a goal, defender Bah scored two assists. Both Benfica and PSG got the same 14 points for four wins and two draws and also reached the same score (16:7). In addition, both of their mutual duels ended 1:1. The greater number of goals scored away from home thus decided in favor of the Portuguese team.

Manchester City beat Sevilla 3-1 after a turnaround. The hosts kept all the hits until the second half, in which Lewis, Álvarez and Mahriz scored. Copenhagen drew 1:1 at home with Dortmund.

The draw for the eight-final pairs will take place on Monday.
