Absolute Italian Championships of Badminton and Para-Badminton. All ready for tomorrow’s 7 finals

Everything is ready at the PalaBadminton for the semi-finals of the singles and for all the finals of all the disciplines that will decree the new Italian Badminton and Para-Badminton Champions.

Martina Corsini and Judith Mair (BC Milano/ASV Mals) will be able to try to confirm themselves as Italian champions thanks to the great victory in the semifinal obtained in three sets (21-16; 13-21; 21-13) against Chiara Passeri and Gianna Stiglich (GSA Chiari /GS Golden Flames). Tomorrow the blue duo will face Alice Pellizzari and Lidia Rainero (BC Lario/CUS Torino) who defeated Adele Bobbio and Camilla Negri (Acqui Badminton/Boccardo Novi) in straight sets today (21-16; 21-17).

Also in the mixed doubles the reigning Italian champions will have the possibility to defend the title in fact Gianmarco Bailetti and again Martina Corsini (BC Milano) by defeating in two sets (21-11; 21-10) Lukas Osele and Emma Piccinin (ASV Mals/BC Milano) secured the final against Christopher Vittoriani and Yasmine Hamza (MaraBadminton/SSV Bozen) who also beat Giovanni Greco and Gianna Stiglich (GS Fiamme Oro) in straight sets (21-12; 21-13).

In the men’s doubles there will certainly be a confirmed Italian Champion and a new one, in fact the two reigning champions will compete with a different partner: Giovanni Greco together with David Salutt (SC Meran) and Kevin Strobl (CS Aeronautica Militare) with Tonni Zhou (ASV mals). Greco/Salutt defeated Gianmarco Bailetti/Simone Piccinin (BC Milano/Junior BC Milano) in straight sets (21-15; 21-12) in the semifinals while Strobl/Zhou always defeated in straight sets (21-19; 21-15 ) Giorgio Gozzini and Nicolò Volpi (GSA Chiari/Brescia Sport Più).

The first big surprises came from the singles. In the women’s category, 2005 Gianna Stiglich (GS Fiamme Oro) will challenge the reigning champion Yasmine Hamza (SSV Bozen) in the semifinal tomorrow after defeating Emma Piccinin (BC Milano) in three sets (20-22; 21-13; 21-8). also affected by an injury. In the other semifinal the other two most accredited will compete: Judith Mair (ASV Mals) and Katharina Fink (SSV Bozen). In the men’s singles, Fabio Caponio (CS Aeronautica Militare) prematurely abandoned the draw, defeated in two sets (21-17; 22-20) by Christopher Vittoriani (MaraBadminton). Finally, the clear path of the reigning champion Giovanni Toti (CS Army) continues. Toti and Vittoriani will be respectively opposed to the brothers Zhou Luca and Tonni (ASV Mals).

Awarded first four titles in Para-Badminton. Rosa De Marco (Easy Play) defeated in two sets (21-1; 21-2) the debutant Linda Troiano (Pol. Fenice) conquering the SL3-SU5 women’s singles title. In the men’s singles SL3-SL4 the victory went to the Venetian Davide Posenato (BC Verona) who first defeated Andrea Pileri (Diversamente Sport) (21-11; 21-6) and then in an exciting match (21-17; 20 -22; 21-19) the young Tommaso Libertini (Genoa BC). In the men’s doubles WH the round saw the triumph of Yuri Ferrigno and Roberto Punzo (BC Milano/GSPD), who thus became Italian Champions again.

Marco Taurasi (BC Celeste) finally won the title in the SH6 men’s singles due to the withdrawal of his teammate Berardino Lo Chiatto.

In the wheelchair singles, however, the pairings for the semifinals were defined. In WH1 Yuri Ferrigno will face Alessandro Pitzianti (Diversamente Sport) while Vincenzo Contemi (Pol. Masi) will challenge Adriano Tiberi (Diversamente Sport). The WH2 category is the prerogative of the GSPD, with the Lazio club presenting three athletes in the semifinals. The derby will take place between Piero Rosario Suma and Salvatore Vasta while Roberto Punzo will face Emanuele Amato (Sikania).
