For the 75 participants of a certain age, the Sporteldag in Schoten resulted in an introduction to numerous sports branches that they may have already heard of, but which they themselves had not practiced until recently.

The Antwerpse Kempen sports region organizes seven sports days for seniors per year, Schoten traditionally always organizes the last of the year in sports hall Vordensteyn.

This time there were about 75 participants and they took part in various sports initiations such as badminton, back fit/body boost, archery, yoga, petanque, race ball, nature walk, …

But also some new sports including padel, Kan Jam (easy frisbee game) and fit hockey.

“For the guidance during this sports day, we received help from a number of Scottish sports clubs such as the Sint-Sebastiaangilde, First Dance, BACSS and KTC Schoten,” says municipal sports promoter Hannelore Vuegen. (jaa)
