Wimbledon quarter-finalist Jule Niemeier has reached the quarter-finals of the WTA tennis tournament in Cluj-Napoca, Romania.
The 23-year-old from Dortmund won in the round of the top 16 on Wednesday evening 6: 4, 6: 4 against the Russian Kamilla Rachimova. Niemeier served twelve aces and prevailed in 103 minutes.
She now meets the Italian Jasmine Paolini in the hard court event. Niemeier is the last remaining German in the tournament’s singles competition.
