Assistant-coach to Julie Barennes at Basket Landes, the Canadian Shona Thorburn believes that her team must garner a maximum of victories at home, starting this evening against Girona by Australian Marianna Tolo.
“I’m happy to play against the Spaniards of Girona rather than against Villeneuve-d’Ascq, because the ESBVA is a more physical team I think, she said to South West. It’s always complicated to face the same formation at least four times (Editor’s note: in the women’s league and in the Euroleague) and win each time. While Bourges is aiming for the Final Four, Basket Landes has more measured ambitions:
“What is certain is that we will have a better chance of winning at home, because here it is always incredible with our supporters. I even think that we have the opportunity to win every game at home. We too have potential and, like last year, we will try to win as many matches as possible. Even if finishing in the top 4, to qualify, will be complicated (smiles), just like doing as well as last season (seven wins and seven losses).
