Andrea Abodi is the new holder of the sports department in the Meloni government, and his appointment marks, among other things, the return of the ministry, twenty months after the fall of the Count 2.
Abodi is currently president of the Istituto per il Credito Sportivo, a position that has reached the height of a long career in the world of sports management, which has led him, among other things, to be one of the co-founders of Media Partners, president of the football league. Serie B, director of the FIGC, and director of Coni Servizi.
Born in Rome on 7 March 1960, Abodi – who is enrolled in the register of journalists – was marketing director of the Italian branch of the McCormack Group, a company specializing in the organization of large events. From 2010 to February 2017 he led the Serie B football league as president. Since 2017 he has been at the helm of the ICS, a social bank for the sustainable development of sport and culture and a leader in financing sports facilities.
In his career as a manager he was also founder and executive vice president of Media Partners Group, one of the main sports marketing agencies, and has held the role of president in various Italian companies (Arcea Spa, Medialazio srl and Astral Spa); from 2002 to 2008 he was also a director of Coni Servizi spa, while in 2009 he was responsible for organizing the Baseball World Cup in Pescara.
As president of Lega B, in 2015 he promoted the establishment of B Futura srl, a special purpose company of the League dedicated to infrastructural development, covering the role of president.
